Development permits are $25.00 for farm buildings only. Please note conditional use may apply.
Please note, your building permit is not valid until we have received payment, a permit number has been given to you by municipal office personnel and has been approved by The Building Inspector.

Building Permits are required for...
Finishing unfinished spaces in a home (basements, recreation rooms, family rooms, attics, etc…)
Repairing of foundations.
Installation of wood stoves & fire places.
Installation of pools holding over 24 inches of water.
Construction of open decks (with a floor height over 8” above ground level)
Enclosure of an existing open deck (ie: sunroom)
Erection of temporary structure (special event tents, temporary garages set up for a period of over 48 hours)
Construction of a detached accessory buildings with a floor area over 108 sq. ft.
Construction of attached and detached garages and carports.
Demolition, removal or partial removals of buildings or structures.
Building permits are not required for....
Replacement of stucco, siding or shingles with the same material.
Replacement of doors when the opening is not enlarged or reduced in size.
Replacement of an open landing and stairs.
Patching, painting and decorating.
Installation of cabinets and shelves.
NOTE: although a building permit may not be required, it is still necessary for the above projects to comply with the building codes and applicable zoning requirements.

Dog Control: All dogs within the R.M. of North Norfolk must be licensed every year and kept within their property limits at all times. They must not be allowed to bite, pursue, run at large, cause noise disturbances or defecate on public/private property. The license covers the period of
January 1st to
December 31st. The costs to license your dog are outlined below:
A spayed/neutered dog $10.00 each and non spayed/neutered $20.00 each.
i) where a current license is held for the dog the sum of $50.00 for the first impounding, $100.00 for the second impounding, $150.00 for the third impounding, $200.00 for the fourth impounding of the same dog in any 12 months, plus $15.00 per day of impounding.
ii) where no current license is held for the dog the sum of $100.00 for the first impounding, $200.00 for the second impounding, $300.00 for the third impounding and $400.00 for the fourth impounding, plus $15.00 per day of impounding, plus the license fee applicable to the dog.
A license may be obtained at the municipal office. If you wish to submit a complaint, please submit your complaint in writing to the municipal office or phone the Councillor for that ward.
